For this task we were given an example of a film idea for a made up film called ‘groung hog’ our task was to create stills of  what the title sequence could be. After hearing what the film was about and the events that would take place we decided that the title sequence for the film would be an animated saul bass inspired sequence.we chose the font of the title to be a laid back type of typography of which would portray that it is a light hearted romantic comedy film.  we then discussed in our group how we would show the audience that it is a british film and decided to include iconographic london features. with this in consideration we started with a skyline of london as the back ground for the first title (the studio) to be shown on we then wanted to zoom into the clock of the big ben to represent London's iconographic features but also the concept of time within the narrative of the film on this still image the director is shown as a title. the final still we created for the film is of a british black cab (representing london) we planned it so that the black cab drives across the screen and out of the smoke from the exhaust pie is the next title. we think that our idea was good for the titles of this film as we thought of a plan and organized our time to make the mock ups for the titles together efficiently.

Establishing the horror genrre

Title sequence: REQUIEM FOR A DREAM

The features that help establish that it’s a horror:
-       The use of the red colours connoting danger and death
-       Use of disorientation to communicate something not quite right
-       The sound eerie sound efffects
-       The images that show scary elements and are black and white
-       The fact it is not a preety or nice to look at title sequence which is how we know it is a horror as     the titles make us feel uncomfortable

(not the original title sequence)

Title sequence: black swan

The features that help establish that it’s a horror:
-       The use of contrasting colours together red- death danger love
Black and white- good and bad {innocence and evil
-       The music is a slow scary type of music almost foreshadowing bad event to come
-       The disorientation of the sequence tells us that the film is going to be strange and disturbing also giving away the face that it is a physiological horror

our title sequence will include all of these features to create an understanding to the audience of what genre our film is. the sound will be slightly disorientating as well as the way it  is put together. we will include colours that connotes the things that could happen in our film such as red black and white.
